Let’s be honest, not everyone feels comfortable in front of the lens. You may have been putting off scheduling a senior photo session because you think it would be awkward. Or maybe you doubt your photos could ever look as amazing as other senior photos you’ve seen taken…

NO PRESSURE!

So what if you did your session with your group of friends?! Laughing and hanging out at your favorite place. The lake? the gym? bleachers? You choose the location!

I love the energy while hanging out with students. I’ll make every effort to make you feel comfortable being YOU. You can bring different outfits, props and be a part of the process as I let you see the shots as we go.

Gracen ~ Newborn Session

Having been a full time mother of 4, I understand how crazy busy life can be! I remember peeking in on those little angelic sleeping faces at the end of the day and asking myself “where did the time go?!”

I’m still asking myself that when I step into an empty bedroom. Although the beds may be empty, the walls and dresser tops are not. I have plenty of photos filling our home with their precious faces. (and of those married into our family these past couple of years! ♥)

I’m so thankful for our family photos taken over the years. Many are in photo albums, some are framed, and many more can be found in tubs labeled for each of my children. These tubs are filled with photos, special academic awards and hand drawn pictures and notes. When my now “20 something” kids come home to visit, we often find ourselves digging through them laughing and reminiscing.

Today I had a newborn session with little 3 week old Gracen. Each time I do a baby session, I remember like yesterday how precious it was to just hold mine and be caught mesmerized by their tiny features. So soft and perfect. Maybe that would explain my sense of purpose and passion for each photo taken. I know one day this little one’s photos will become priceless treasures as mine have. Enjoyed for years by their parents and then passed down to their grandkids!

What a privilege to be a able to give such a gift. A privilege I don’t ever want to take for granted.

Wow! How do I even begin to re-cap 2011? What a ride!!

This past year I have had the privilege of being apart of so many of your families. From high school seniors, expectant mothers, newborn babies, weddings and family portraits! Not to mention all those I have met along the way while covering events for our local magazine, What’s Up Ocala!!

This is my 7th year of business and it wouldn’t be possible without your support and encouragement! I have learned so much! Managing a small business is not an easy task. I have been stretched and challenged in so many ways. What a rewarding experience!

So as we enjoy the holidays these next few days anticipating the new year, I wanted to pause and share just a few favorite highlights from 2011.

Thankfulness…

The other night one of my best friends and I took our daughters out to dinner. Our girls met in elementary school and became best friends in 5th grade…12 years ago? (good grief!) We started this ritual a few years back when the girls were in high school. The girls say we are just a “grown up version of them”…which becomes evident when we are all out together. I love sharing the memories of yesterday and their dreams for the future. With one in her senior year of college and one married, these Mother/daughter dates are fewer between, therefore becoming more precious.

There is nothing like a true friend, who will stick by you in the good days and bad, cheer you on and love you enough to speak the truth.

With the Thanksgiving holiday just around the corner, I’m reminded of all I am thankful for.

I’m thankful for my Friendships.

Usually this time of year I make a trek up to the North Georgia Mountains near where I used to live. I LOVE the mountains this time of year all ablaze with the colorful leaves. Such a mix of reds, yellows and orange. A backpack, thermos and an apple is all I would need to hike up to the top of Amicalola Falls. Once there the view overlooking the mountain range is breathtaking!… It’s been a few years since I made the trip up that way. This afternoon when I looked out the window and saw these leaves, it brought back the longing… Looks like this is the closest I will get to brilliant leaves in my Florida home. Enjoy ~

What a fun wedding to be a part of! The event came together perfectly in every way!

An outdoor wedding on the beautiful golf course of Golden Hills, Ocala with perfect fall weather! Anushka and Ricardo were made for each other. This wedding was a true celebration of all God has done in their lives individually and as a couple. They are loved by so many and it was apparent by those in attendance. Anushka made such a beautiful bride and glowed the entire evening, full of graciousness and joy! And, oh boy, can Ricardo dance! I loved watching them both on the dance floor! You two are awesome! What fun!!

Everyone is photogenic…

If you’re like most of us, you’d rather be BEHIND the lens, then in front of it. As a photographer I “see” with different eyes…and I use the eye of the lens to capture what I see. That inner beauty that escapes with a smile, and yes, everyone possesses it. So when someone says they are not photogenic, I have to disagree! I love the opportunity to prove them wrong and then hear them say as they walk away “Wow, I do look pretty darn good!”

Case in point, the other afternoon I encouraged my friend Susan to get behind the lens. The typical mom who was always the one behind the lens taking photos of everyone else. A cancer survivor, who is always serving others had her day behind the lens. After much laughter, outfit changes and encouraging conversation, I once more came to the conclusion: Beauty can always be captured in the lens of real life.

Beautiful Event Location!

I had a couple book my services for the 1st of October a few weeks back. When they told me the destination, I was intrigued. A Plantation House in Belleview. Interesting.

I contacted the owner, Kathy Sumner, to schedule a visit… as I drove through the Bellemoor Plantation’s gate, I felt as though I was transported back in time. The property is gorgeous with it’s huge cascading oak trees, gardens and a pond, much like a southern plantation I once viewed from a old movie scene.

Located near the pond, stood a beautiful gazebo, where this wedding will take place. What a breath taking view overlooking the water and the gardens filled with various foliage and statues.

There is a summer cottage near the back of the property where the bride and her party can prepare for her special day. The property also offers an outdoor kitchen, fully equipped and there is plenty of space for an event tent for the reception.

I would highly recommend this event location. The property is gorgeous, accommodating and a great value!
